Liisa Pentti +Co
Liisa Pentti +Co is a Helsinki-based dance group. Liisa Pentti, who leads the dance group, pioneered Finnish modern dance. In the 1980s, she was one of the creators of postmodern dance that shook Finnish dance art and cultural life, opening up new forms of expression and possibilities.
The group's artistic profile is in the international dance, performing arts, and contemporary theatre. Their work is characterized by experimentation and searching for new forms of expression. The renewed identity follows the same idealogy.
The identity concept "Between Spaces" explores freedom of movement, rhythm, the body, and the body's relationship to its surroundings.
We aimed for the identity to communicate form like Merce Cunningham, show Pina Bauch's movement, and be raw and experimental like John Cage.
The manually done experimental image treatments explore the dance group's existing imagery, creating new dynamic compositions highlighting the relationship between the body and space. Additionally, the typography created by Letraset adds another layer of expression to the work, the coincidental randomness emphasising the importance of embracing errors in the performance.
By combining analogue and digital media, Liisa Pentti +Co connects their past, present, and future into a cohesive whole.
Since the dance group has a minimal marketing budget, street posters were decided to be the main application for the brand. A highly cost-effective way of reaching the right audience (at least in Finland).
