Project Illustrations for the book “What Made Kazimir Malevich Famous.” Agency ACCA Year 2026 Award Finalist

Illustrations for the book “What Made Kazimir Malevich Famous.”

Designed for readers aged 6 to 10, this non-fiction book offers a simple and engaging introduction to the life and work of Kazimir Malevich.

The illustrations combine the spirit and atmosphere of Malevich’s paintings and the aesthetics of Suprematism. Illustrator Kateryna Hordiienko reinterpreted these visual motifs and transformed them into a narrative visual story that is engaging and accessible for children.

The artwork for the book was created through a combination of traditional techniques — monotype, stamping, and collage — and digital tools (Adobe Photoshop, Procreate). The lettering for the cover was inspired by the artist’s unique style and the typography of the 1920s–1930s.

The book was printed in Ukraine in 2025 by the publishing house “Aссa.”
