TT Ricordi Todi

The general project, TT Ricordi, originates from the tourist trips to Italy, during which our art director has accumulated many photographs of historical inscriptions and tablets. Each font from the TT Ricordi family was drawn by a separate designer and has its own story. TT Ricordi Todi is a wide serif with a classic base and a contemporary nature. The project was based on plaques with engraved street names from the small Italian town of Todi. The main challenge was to decipher the characteristic features of the signs and emphasize them in a modern way. The main challenge of the project was to make something relevant today out of the historical type, while at the same time retaining its identity, emphasizing and highlighting the main graphic features. We had no desire to change the shapes too much, since we really liked them in the original, so we worked within the framework that the inscription plate gave. We tried to discern the characteristic features of the signs and emphasize them in a modern manner. It was also necessary to come up with and draw the Cyrillic alphabet, which would not be inferior to the Latin alphabet in expressiveness.
