Falles 2022. Reborn from the flame
Declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, the "Fallas" have been, for hundreds of years, the great festival of Valencia, marked by fire and pyrotechnics. The festival culminates on March 19, when the fire reduces all the sculptures to ashes as a symbol of purification and social renewal to welcome spring.
After two editions marked by the pandemic, the Fallas return to their usual format, just the year that Valencia is the World Capital of Design.
Return to the origin, return to the fire to pay it the tribute it deserves, let ourselves be captivated by its charming movement and the expressiveness of its fluidity. This year we return to the fire, to be reborn from the flame with more force than ever.
With the circumstances that we are going through in the faller world and Valencian society, we are doing an exercise in reflection to assess what is most important for the party. What is essential. Other professionals in charge of the image of Fallas before us, have made the work of guilds, musicians, artisans, and so on. We want to go back to the origin, to focus on what is most basic for the Fallas. We want to return to the fire to pay tribute to him, to be captivated by his charming movement and the expressiveness of his fluid form. We want to return to the fire, to be reborn from the flame stronger than ever. For the elaboration of our proposal, we have taken into account the fact that the current communication is more and more digital. With the incorporation of digital muppets, even the supports we have on the street are. And from this perspective we have made our approach to fire. In fact, fire as the main element of the Fallas poster has been represented by Valencian poster artists over time who have explored its pictorial expressiveness. But never before had we had the chance to explore his movement in such a literal way. In this sense, our proposal goes beyond the traditional poster and incorporates movement as a fundamental part of the image: a living and inexhaustible fire.
