100 years for a fair working world — 100 Jahre für eine gerechte Arbeitswelt
The Bremen Chamber of Labor has been campaigning for the interests of employees in the Hanseatic city for a century – 1921-2021.
On 240 pages, the book documents what has happened in Bremen’s working world, society and politics in 100 years. The Chamber is one of the first of its kind and the publication is the first review of the Chamber’s history of this magnitude.
Red stands for industrial action and it is the corporate color of the Chamber. The (red) ›time axis‹ runs through the whole book in a bundle. The pages practically grow out of the book and are commented on towards the edges by photos, documents and notes. Colored intro pages structure the book at the beginning of the chapters with a large symbolic image, infographics, a summary of the chapter and short CVs of the actors. At the beginning and end of the book, interviews form the historical review and the outlook for the future, arranged transversely.
The tangible materiality (linen spine and screen printing on machine gray cardboard) gives the book a tangible ›labour‹ character and at the same time gives it a down-to-earth value. A solid work.
