10 Viaggi nell'Architettura Italiana

“10 Viaggi nell’Architettura Italiana” presents the results of the 2019–20 photographic campaign commissioned by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of Ministry of Culture, and constitutes the second chapter of “Atlante Architettura Italiana”, an attempt to document post-1945 Italian architecture through the lenses of ten emerging landscape and architecture photographers. The exhibition design transforms the entire volume of Sala Centrale at Triennale Milano into an interactive cartographic space. An elevated floor of 400 printed tiles outlines an abstracted topography of Italy, revealing the locations of the architecture documented by the campaign. Each photographic print floats above the map: detached from the walls and supported by slender frames, the images become part of a spatial, three-dimensional archive, replicating and amplifying the photographers’ itineraries across the country. The exhibition design, allowing for multiple paths through the work of the authors, invites visitors to interact with the images while walking, weaving, and stepping into the installation. The architecture and the landscapes are presented in a seemingly endless array of juxtapositions, where the authors’ individual perspectives are brought together in a collective assembly.
