Quinta de Adorigo

In Douro’s monumental landscape there is a new project underway. One that respects and pays homage to two thousand years of wine production, reflecting contemporary technical evolution and contributing to the consolidation of this extraordinary world heritage site. A new winery and hotel designed by architect Sérgio Rebelo merges into Douro’s natural scenario, framing nature as it creates spaces for contemplation. A recipient of an Architizer Award and a World Architecture Festival Award in 2021, the project’s winery evokes the confluent terraces that characterize the landscape. Quinta de Adorigo’s new wine labels refer to the rows of terraces that are part and parcel of Douro’s landscape and are reflected in the architecture project. Terraces that have long shaped the territory with their metrics, monumental walls and sun oriented slopes, representing the harmonious adaptation of nature to human activities. In the new labels we drew their geometry in a graphical synthesis to match the project’s contemporary orientation.
