Step into the pulsating heart of Amsterdam's club culture with "To Dance is to be Free – Amsterdam Club Culture from 1980 to Today." This immersive exhibition transcends the typical museum experience, inviting visitors to journey through the vibrant world of iconic and contemporary clubs like RoXY, Club11 and Paradiso.

Wander through a space designed to be as disorienting as it is captivating, where deep blue walls create a striking backdrop for the eclectic collection of club posters, flyers, and photographs by Amsterdam legends like Erwin Olaf and Max Natkiel.

Bright LED strips mimic the dazzling lights of the club scene, guiding you through various stylistic rooms that underscore the DIY essence of these iconic clubs. Explore the exhibition as a sensory odyssey, where every corner reveals a new facet of the city's vibrant club culture and lose yourself in the pulsating energy of Amsterdam's nightlife, told by key figures from the scene who share personal insights in in-depth interviews.

The exhibition ends with new creations from renowned artists like Juha van ’t Zelfde and Bogomir Doringer. Descend into the former boiler room, where the party awaits, and dance freely amidst the echoes of Amsterdam's club legacy.
