Collection Alth

A collection of theoretical texts and essays, published by Alternatives théâtrales, helping to build a memory of the performing arts in Europe and around the world. Designed around a theme, a discipline, a playwright or a work, the editors endeavour to present, study and analyse them.

The name of the collection –the first two letters of the words Al(ternatives) th(éâtrales)– phonetically evokes the word 'halte', synonymous with an interruption, a stopover, a respite, a truce, a pause.

While the letters of the (sometimes numerous) authors form an embossed pattern on the front cover, it is only on the back cover that the portraits or illustrations appear. Colour, hinted at in the small logotype on the white cover, pops up on the inside covers.
