Playgrounds needed an identity package for In Motion, their latest festival celebrating all things animation. The challenge was a versatile yet vibrant design adaptable to digital and physical mediums, from printed maps to looping visuals during the event.
Given the nature of the event, we focused our energy on the animated logo, to be used as a central tool across all assets. Departing from a conventional approach, integrating animation potential in our core design thinking, resulted in a cohesive and dynamic visual language, infusing the festival with creative energy that screamed ‘MOTION’.
Appealing to In Motion's diverse audience of students, animators, and industry titans, it was important to boil our design down to a strong and versatile foundation that could relate to all.
But with just two weeks to build the core identity, we needed a concept that could grow & flex beyond this initial deadline.
The wave, built from our N’s & M’s, is a simple & strong form that can be reinterpreted & built upon through many mediums - stop motion, 3D, live action - but can also be stretched & reshaped to form a window to host images & video.
