Famìa
Famìa is an olive oil brand from Rovinj, a picturesque Istrian town, located in the northern part of the Croatian Adriatic. For centuries, Rovinj has thrived thanks to fishing and small-scale agriculture, including olive oil production – a key element of Mediterranean cuisine.
Our task was to create a new name and packaging for the “House of Local Products” stores. In the past, every family in Rovinj had its own supply of olive oil at home, thanks to olive groves outside the town center. This inspired the name Famìa, derived from the Rovinj dialect word for “family.” We kept the original store name, “House of Local Products”, as the brand’s slogan.
We designed the logo with a subtle yet powerful touch – transforming the letter ì in Famìa into a chimney with smoke rising from it. This symbolizes the warmth of home, the kitchen, and cooking, where olive oil takes central stage.
The bottle design is inspired by the architecture of Rovinj, a town that developed on a peninsula, with houses tightly lined along the sea in various colors and sizes, reflecting the diversity of the families living there. We translated these iconic Mediterranean houses into the appearance of the bottles, using their distinctive colors and windows—some open, some closed—to capture the dynamic spirit of town life.
A simple label has transformed the bottle into a small family home, with its colors representing different intensities of the oil, tailored to 0.5 L bottles and smaller ones of 0.25 L.
By carefully selecting and combining bottles of different sizes, it is possible to create dynamic compositions reminiscent of a charming, picturesque Mediterranean town. This thoughtfully designed product arrangement naturally attracts customers' attention, eliminating the need for additional physical elements in stores.
Beyond enhancing the visual appeal of the retail space, the design encourages customers to collect all flavor intensities, creating their own collection and taking home an authentic piece of Rovinj.
