Niccolò Machiavelli, The Prince
https://annamaritenhunen.com/Machiavelli
Niccolò Machiavelli has been a controversial figure ever since his writings were published at the close of the Renaissance. This is due to the frank and forthright nature of the guidance to prospective rulers he shares in The Prince. Not much is sacred for Machiavelli, and he does not shrink from advising about things like manipulation of public opinion, deception of the gullible, or the use of violence for political purposes.
Designing the cover and thinking about representations of power in our time, I felt like a grey men’s suit would be a ”fitting” visualization for the camouflaged power of grey eminences of all sorts and strings attached. The book is bound with a luxurious grey cloth with duotone effect in satin finish and features embroidered typography on the cover.
