Signopic

SIGNOPIC (SIGN + PICTURE)  an self initiated project by Patryk Hardziej exploring the forms of graphic signs in an illustrative way.

I aim to blur the boundary between a sign and an illustration, although the more I do so, the more I realize that this boundary was blurred long ago. Similar explorations have appeared many times throughout the history of design. In the field of visual communication, especially within the realm of the static image — everything has already happened.

And yet, in today’s overloaded and complex digital environment, strong, monumental, and pure forms feel refreshing. I find finesse in their details  in the way edges taper or expand, in how forms are finished and balanced. Because of this, despite their simplicity, they remain intriguing.

The first 50 Signopics were culminated in an exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.
