'The night belongs to Cat' is a large-format picture book of 64 pages, for ages 4 and up, written and illustrated by Yoko Heiligers. The book was published by Lannoo Publishers (Belgium) in november 2025. The book starts at dusk and ends at dawn. A child goes to sleep but Cat's adventure is just about the begin. From crepuscular animals to people on night shifts and from 12 o'clock ghost hour to the dead of night; Cat experiences it all.

Award-winning illustrator Yoko Heiligers (1983) was educated at the ArtEZ Arts Academy in The Netherlands and she works as an illustrator ever since. She enjoys giving a visual twist to diverse subjects with her illustrations. Her technique is a combination of line drawings and (digital) collage, in which she plays with lines and (color)planes. For the skies in The night belongs to Cat she made screenprints.

Yoko illustrates for various clients and creates her own picture books. Her work has been translated extensively internationally. Her picturebook 'UominiAnimali' was an ED-Awards Finalist in 2023.
