Yiayia and friends “Christmas Adventure” @Seoul Light DDP 2025

As part of yiayia and friends’ participation at the DDP Design Fair 2025 in Seoul (South Korea), the brand was also invited to take part in the Seoul Light DDP 2025 Winter media art festival. In this unique light show, projections are mapped onto the exterior surfaces of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). The building’s irregular, curved geometry presents significant technical challenges, which required the development of custom technical solutions to ensure precise and seamless projection.

Viewers are invited to enter the imaginary world of yiayia and friends – a universe filled with color, emotion, joy, and the spirit of Christmas. The projection follows the Christmas star along its luminous path across the architectural shell of the DDP, revealing surprises along the way: evolving graphics, characters, landscapes, and emotions that gradually unfold and build toward a magical crescendo.

The visual experience is complemented by carefully curated sound design. For the video’s soundtrack, a renowned classical composition was reinterpreted and newly recorded, combining live studio performances by musicians with digital composition.

The universe of yiayia and friends continues to evolve through the introduction of new characters, but above all through a bespoke motion system and a skillfully choreographed synchronization of movement and sound, bringing this “Christmas adventure” vividly to life.
