Linkiesta Etc
Etc is a quarterly magazine published by Italian media company Linkiesta: a news outlet that covers Italian and international politics. Etc, like the name suggests, was born to speak about everything else: everything that doesn't fit the headlines of mainstream media but it's just as important in shaping our daily lives.
Every issue revolves around a topic that feels in the zeitgeist. Issue 10 is dedicated to games and it interrogates the reader about the price to pay for living in a world that seems to have forgotten the value of growing up, where finance, fashion, politics, and even war seem to be interpreted as a game. The magazine itself becomes a game: a flip book by artist Umberto Chiodi is printed on the bottom right corner of all the second half of the book. Issue 11 talks about identity: multiple identities divided between the other and the self in the narcissist era we live in – and which inspired the cover illustrated by Cristina Daura.
On the 10th issue a new cover system debuted: a movable masthead that encloses all the type and gives the artist to which the cover is assigned a great degree of freedom. Every cover is not a didactic description of the content of the magazine, but a loose and symbolic interpretation of the topic around which every issue is built.
