Matera Capitale Mediterranea della Cultura e del Dialogo

Out of 80 international proposals, our design was selected as the official logo for Matera Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2026.

We imagined that the dialogue and sounds of the Mediterranean could be captured in a single visual translation, one that reflects complexity through simplicity: sound waves.

Two lines meet and intertwine, symbolizing the dialogue between different cultures, where sound takes shape and becomes the visual identity of Matera 2026.

The visual system is enriched by a wide and warm color palette inspired by the Mediterranean landscape — its vegetation, light, and earthy tones.

The typography uses a contemporary Google Font designed in 2022 by Olivia King, combining clarity and character to express a shared cultural rhythm.
