From Field to Platform
Fatland is Norway’s second-largest food producer and a pillar of the national food supply. Every day, one in four Norwegians consumes meat from their facilities. Managing a value chain of 5,000 farmers, industrial sites and national distribution, the challenge was to design a digital interface that simplifies production data and positions Fatland as a modern, visible partner.
Interaction Logic: Taming 200 Pages of Complexity
The objective was to structure more than 200 pages of information and operational tools into one coherent interface. We developed a three-tier navigation system separating farmers, customers and consumers into distinct pathways tailored to their needs. Another central feature is the one-click filtering system. Farmers can instantly filter all content by livestock category, removing irrelevant information and making professional resources precise and manageable.
The visual identity was reimagined to give Fatland a distinct voice rooted in Norwegian farming. A carefully developed photo library grounds the brand in real people and real work. Warm tones and typography create approachability, while a disciplined layout ensures clarity and ease of navigation. The platform looks as clear as it feels to use.
Colour coding strengthens the structure across navigation, filters and modules, differentiating animal types at a glance and reducing cognitive load. Dedicated modules allow customers efficient access to documentation and product data, while consumers are guided to traceability and transparency without disrupting the operational logic built for farmers.
Operational Flows and Digital Proximity
The platform functions as an operational hub rather than a marketing site. An interactive operational calendar structures the year into actionable phases, linking deadlines and seasonal tasks directly to advisory content and regulatory requirements. A saved advisor remains persistently visible in the top navigation, keeping the user’s primary contact one step away. An AI-powered search interface provides dialogue-based access across the site, delivering contextual answers instantly.
System Architecture
The interface is built as a modular design system with defined interaction rules. Navigation, filters, cards and content modules follow clear hierarchy principles to ensure consistency as the platform grows.
The result is a service interface that transforms industrial complexity into structured workflows. By aligning information architecture with real production logic, the platform demonstrates how UX and interaction design can improve operational efficiency while strengthening long-term positioning.
